MetricsView Collectors gather statistical data from your computers. They are created in the Dotcom-Monitor platform and used as monitoring targets for MetricsView monitoring tasks.
After creating a collector, you must link it to a MetricsView Collector application installed on your target computer. Once linked, you can then create a monitoring device to monitor that collector.
If a collector is created but not assigned to the application on the target machine, it will be considered DOWN because no data is being recorded. For this reason, if you enable downtime alerts for a collector, we recommend installing the MetricsView Collector app and assigning the collector to it promptly to avoid false downtime alerts.
You can adjust downtime alert settings at any time by editing a collector.
